Sunridge Ranch Appaloosas

Our primary goal is to produce line bred Bright Eyes Brother stock specializing in quality halter and western performance horses. Our horses have the conformation and desire to please, combined with loveable dispositions and just the prettiest darn heads you've ever laid eyes on. So if you're looking for an all-around western prospect, or one that can handle a full day's ranch work, or simply a life long companion to share the trails with, ...you've come to the right place.

We purchased the majority of our broodmares from the Double G Ranch in Fulshear, Texas, which was owned by Dr. and Mrs. George Gayle. The Gayle's name is synonymous with fine Appaloosa horses as they owned and bred National and World Champions for 38 years. They were also the last owner of the famed son of Bright Eyes Brother, Mighty Bright, whom they purchased from Lane Hudson. Mighty Bright's siring ability earned him the prestigious title of GEAR (Greater Eastern Appaloosa Regional) Supreme Performance Sire No. 1 and was inducted into the Appaloosa Hall of Fame in 1988.

When Mighty Bright died in 1974 the hunt was on for another top stallion. The Gayle's purchased a stallion from Hadley Campbell who reminded them so much of Mighty Bright that they named him Mighty Bright Again (aka "MBA"). This extraordinary stallion (by National and World Performance Champion, Honey Toe) was used to cross on their Mighty Bright daughters and became a noted sire of champion halter and performance horses.

We then added the bloodline of Prince Plaudit through our acquisition of two outstanding leopard stallions, Mighty Shannon and Crystal Array. They bring with them the very best Prince Plaudit blood through such sons as Prince Charles, Prince David and Prince's Jim. Grand get represented are Prince Chicaro, Prince Shannon, and Crystal Lace. Other ancestors include Mighty Bright offspring such as Mighty Tim, Barretta Bright and Mighty Peavy.

Our stock's bloodlines carry on the legacies of Bright Eyes Brother and Prince Plaudit with an infusion of select Wiescamp blood to balance out the equation. Ancestors trace back to Skipper W through Skipper's King, Skipa Star, Spanish Array, Skip's Barber, Spanish Galla, Skips Bid and many, many more, all famous for their siring ability, halter and performance winning get. Other AQHA legends rounding out our bloodstock include Leo, King, Wimpy, Plaudit and Three Bars (TB). Five-generation pedigrees are available on our stock upon request.
